The End of Gilgamesh

Sa lient points that stuck out to you. Some of that salient points that stuck out to me was that the story of Gilgamesh can connect with people on many levels. That might be one of the reasons it survived so long because it can become a little something for everyone. The epic of Gilgamesh it the oldest masterpiece of world literature. Gilgamesh was also written on a tablet and it is written in a language that u need to see the dept of and how the light shows in it. Since it was written on clay not all of the tablet was able to be recovered so the story is not complete. The translators also feel connected to the people that wrote it because they wrote this in there language years ago and it is the only one and you are figuring out what it meant. How do the insights from this video change or shape your thoughts on The Epic of Gilgamesh " The insights from this video changed my view of Gilgamesh in many ways. Gilgamesh is Aware of his own Mortality

In relation to our brief discussion of "catharsis" how does this relate to Gilgamesh's realization of his own mortality.  Our discussion of catharsis relates to Gilgamesh's realization of his own mortality because Gilgamesh is very upset about the death of his close friend Enkidu. Gilgamesh then starts to cry but then realizes something. He realizes that he is still mortal. Gilgamesh is approaching catharsis when he is releasing his inner feelings about Enkidu's death.  What prompts Gilgamesh to Confront his own mortality? The event that prompts Gilgamesh to confront his own mortality is the death of Enkidu. The loss of Enkidu was like loosing a brother. Gilgamesh never formed a relationship like what he did with Enkidu with anyone else so this is the first time he has felt pain like this. Now that he realizes that he is not a god and that one day he will die he is also frightened about death. He then goes on a journey to find the one that survived the flo...

Who is Responsible for Enkidu's Death?

Who do I blame for Enkidu's Death? In the story of Gilgamesh there is this man named Enkidu.  Gilgamesh and  Enkidu were originally enemies but then  Gilgamesh realized that Enkidu could be useful for what he has planned he decided to have Enkidu help him. Gilgamesh wants to get wood from the cedar forest but there is a problem. That problem is that there is a guardian of this forest and to get some of the would they would have to beat the monster. After they did the gods got mad and had to get revenge. They were saying that "One of those two must die. Let it be Enkidu, Enlil decreed. Enkidu began to waste away. Neither brother wanted to lose the other." (Tablet Seven). The gods are saying that they need to take action and punish them for what they did so they decided to kill Enkidu as a punishment on both of them. This punished both of them because they were very close and neither brother wanted to loose the other. This is why and who I blame to gods for Enkidu's ...

Gilgamesh and Enkidu

How they are alike and different: Gilgamesh and Enkidu are alike in many was. One of those ways is that they were both designed by the great goddess Aruru "The great goddess Aruru designed his body" (tablet one) here it is saying that Aruru created Gilgamesh. Tablet one also says that "The goddess Aruru heard the cries of the peopl e of Uruk, and out of clay she fashioned a wild man named Enkidu". They are also alike because they are both very powerful and full of knowledge. The two of them also fought evil together. Although they are alike they are also very differences. They are different because they were both originally set against each other so they have to be opposites in a way. Before they met they were set to be enemies and when they saw each other they automatically started to fight.
